Katrina!

WoW! I didn't expect that. It came and went so fast, there really want much time to get things ready.

Work/School shut down at noon on Thursday. That night the North side of the eye went right over us.

Thursday we lost power around 8:30pm.

Around 10pm we drove to my Mother-in-laws place, because she still had power.

We then drove back home around 12am.

The radio was saying 3 people already dead due to the storm, from being outside.

The next day....... clean up time. I trimmed the tree on the east side of the house. I thinned it out and cut about 10ft off the top.

My other neighbor then asked me what I was going to do about the tree in the front. I was a bit confused.

Turns out Katrina knocked over the tree, well almost. Another storm and it's down for sure.

I think I'm just going to remove it.

We got power back on Friday around 10:30pm.

We're lucky, people around us still don't have power.

What I learned.......

I'm going to get my shutters replaced with ones that are attached to the house, and all you have to do is close them like curtains.

And I'm getting a generator. Period!

Enjoy the pix.

Our house. I only put the shutters on the bedroom windows to keep the rain from hitting the windows. It gets noisy.

Sand Bags.

I put sandbags at our front door because this area tends to flood. Water hasn't gotten into the house but it's always to be prepaired. They were expecting lots of rain.

My truck.

Showing all the leaves and stuff stuck to the truck. This pix is taken after driveing 15 miles to the inlaws. The truck was covered.

Saying bye.

Going back home.

The next day.

Entrance

Fallen tree and sign.

Oh no!

Due to not having enough time, we tucked all the plants and BBQ in the nooks of the house. Well, the wind cought our BBQ and draged it about 15 ft to where it is on the ground.

Flea looking for food.

The only real damage to our house

This pot broke.

Town homes near by.

Golden Silk Spider.

This guy was about 4 inches long. His body was a little over a inch and a half. Big MoFo!!!!!!!

This trailer park is next to where we live. This trailer here lost it's roof. that's it on the ground.

We drove by this place on the way to the in-laws. We had to drive through here becaue Pine Island Rd. was blocked with fallen trees. Came back the next day to take the pix. Oh this trailer was on the news too.

This is another tree that fell over. This one is next to Ciro's. We eat pizza there all the time.

This is a tree that fell near were we work. The root system was only about 2 feet deep. It was no wonder why this one fell over.

What's wrong with this pix?

LOL!
